Junior Ranger Program - March 29-April 14

Children fascinated by nature and animals will be thrilled by this opportunity to join a park ranger over the school holidays. Aimed at kids aged six to 12, the Parks Victoria's Junior Rangers holiday program promotes hands-on fun while learning about the environment, Victoria's history and the role the parks play in protecting native animals and plants.

Activities include becoming a bush detective (looking for clues that animals leave behind such as tracks, skulls, scats and territorial markings), a rock pool ramble where you get to explore and discover the creatures of a hidden underwater world; and old-fashioned games of the 1900s such as three-legged races, horseshoe throw, sack races, hopscotch and skittles. Other programs include birdwatching, heritage days, craft sessions and Dreamtime Discovery with an indigenous park ranger who will explain the connection Aborigines have with the land.

Where: Various parks including Serendip Sanctuary, Croajingolong National Park, Point Nepean National Park, Werribee Park, Wilsons Promontory National Park and River Red Gum Parks.
